Q: Wars of the Jews Book one chapter 22
How powerful was the love that Herod for his wife Mariamne, who was said to appear to him even after she was put to death and he was going mad, seeing her vision and speaking to her.
She had been a woman of Nobility prior to that marriage. And even in death a woman can drive a man , MAD.

Salome's husband, Joseph, was given to care for Mariamne and was told to kill her if Antony slew him (Harod).When Mariamne confronted Harod of those orders , when he returned, he turned on his friend and relative Joseph and had both put to death.

I read it and it is fascinating, and easy even for me to understand. I went out and bought that book the Jesus Dynasty , and will start when I am finished with "Walking the Bible" by Bruce Feiler, which has also been a great read.
