Q: Most of you are familiar with the English Bible referring to Jesus as "the chief cornerstone" in Ephesians 2:20 and 1 Peter 2:6. However, that is a sloppy and misleading translation of the Koine Greek word "akrogoniaion." This word means, very literally, "cap-corner." More idiomatically it can be rendered "the capstone of the corner."
There is only ONE geometric shape in which a stone can be simultaneously the CAP-stone and the CORNER-stone, and that shape is the PYRAMID! Jesus is being compared to the capstone on a pyramid by the use of this word. Hence, the pyramid shape on his tomb.
