Hello, guest
Name: Open Eye  •  Title: Ouroboros Gnostic Symbol On Tomb?  •  Date posted: 03/09/07 4:15
Q: In regards to the symbol above the tomb that was also noticed on some of the boxes found at the monastery, I agree with some forum members that the upper symbol appears to be a roof (meaning house of). I wonder if the circle could be an Ouroboros, (the serpent swallowing its tail) which is an ancient Gnostic symbol? Jesus was supposed to have ties to the ancient Gnostics. Indeed the lost gospel of Nag Hamadi, including the gospel according to Mary Magdalene was Gnostic, was it not? If you look closely at the circle it appears to have a thicker spot at the top, could this be the snakes head? If this is a Gnostic symbol, then doesn’t that further narrow the odds of this family being the real Jesus? How many Gnostics lived in Jerusalem with those name combinations?

A: I think that it is possible that the Ouroboros is the symbol of the Zero , and that which has no beginning and no end.
