Q: Wake up people. You are all being duped.
Scientific method demands a careful, systematic weighing of all the evidence, for and against. The documentarians have not done this. They have systematically ignored the unfavorable evidence: (1) they ignored those who should not be in the tomb, (2) they did not properly consider those who should be in the tomb; (3) they ignored the strong likelihood that Jesus could not be buried in the tomb. Their method is essentially, "Evidence that favors the theory is included. The rest is excluded."
This is how a freak accident becomes a sure thing.
What they offer here is not science, but pseudo-science -- polemic dressed in scientific language. Numbers and "tests" are trotted out, but only for the sake of appearance. The hypothesis is never actually in danger because the falsifying evidence is excised before the evaluation begins. In other words, the rules of the game are: heads they win, tails you lose. The game was rigged from the start.
vi.- The documentarians largely rely upon Kloner's initial research into the ossuaries found at Talpiot, except when he disagrees with their thesis about the "James" ossuary. One cannot variably accept and reject a source based upon how well it supports one's claim.
FURTHERMORE,- Simcha's "expert" Oded Golan is a known antiquities forger not just in this case but in many others. He has been involved in a forgery ring for 20 years. He denys this. What a surprise. LOL
Great credibility here guys. Good work!

A: I can't blame Simcha for presenting the find as he did. After all, left to the scientific community, the nine ossuaries sat in a warehouse for almost thirty years, near ignored.
If Golan did in fact forge the James ossuary, that still leaves the other nine in question.

A: There are too many credibility questions to even begin to address.
Have you considered that the ossuarys remained in that warehouse because THERE WAS NO SIGNIFICANCE to them?
You are right about not blaming Simcha for presenting as he did. He had a lot of money riding on it. His book is a top seller! He had to present it in a sensationalistic non scientific format to dupe laypeople like yourself.

A: I'm keeping an open mind about the whole thing.
Time will tell.

A: I'm waiting hoping more experts weigh in. It may take some time for that to happen for fear of backlash from the christian community. Its just to soon to close the door on the possibilities.

A: You will be waiting forever. Simcha knows that his case is flawed and has already cashed in. There is no reason for him to investigate further. This has NOTHING to do with "Christian backlash", though it makes for nice conspiracy theory and scapegoating.

Found- this funny. Another example of shoddy science and selective omission to dupe people. Again I say wake up.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I-n- an interview, Mr. Jacobovici was asked why the filmmakers did not conduct DNA testing on the other ossuaries to determine whether the one inscribed “Judah, son of Jesus” was genetically related to either the Jesus or Mary Magdalene boxes; or whether the Jesus remains were actually the offspring of Mary. “We’re not scientists. At the end of the day we can’t wait till every ossuary is tested for DNA,” he said. “We took the story that far. At some point you have to say, ‘I’ve done my job as a journalist.’ ”
"I couldn't believe what I read him say there. Having studied biomolecular archaeology myself I see that the approach has been so slovenly and unprofessional it's difficult to understand why on earth he thought he'd be taken seriously. Firstly, the risk of contamination is so huge that it's genuinly difficult to know who's DNA has actually been tested. And secondly, even if the DNA was of the people concerned (although this is very very uncertain) DNA samples should have been obtained from all the ossuaries and comparisons made with all of them in order to arrive at as truthful a picture as possible. The impression given however, is that they got the result that fitted in with a preconceived idea, so weren't going to run any tests that might rock the boat. Either that or it was assumed that by using the magic words 'DNA results', it would immediately confer some kind of authoritative status voice to their theories."
- But then... why would Simcha be concerned with responsible research and TRUTH when it could jeapordize the massive $$$ at stake by producing a top seller on Amazon?
KEEP WAITING... or do the smart thing and just forget you ever saw this ridiculous film or read the stupid book. lol

A: Judah's ossuary is in a museum and was scrubbed cleanThey weren't able to get anything from it but his name. The book explains everything in detail.I had to watch the DVD several times to catch the points I missed the first time the movie aired. If the archeologist could have looked more closely in 1980 we would have heard about this discovery years ago.

(3) they ignored the strong likelihood that Jesus could not be buried in the tomb.
Do you say this because you think there is a strong likelihood that Jesus rose from the dead and flew up to outerspace? That is so UNLIKELY they call it a miracle. By definition a miracle is the LEAST likely of all other possibilities. It's MOST likely Jesus was laid to rest in a tomb.
It's ironic to call the thread Bad Science using that arguement.

A: I used to think that he woke up from a coma induced by some kind of potion then escaped to live out his days in India,Gaul or Avalon.I know it isn't so.To me that made more sense in explaining the resurrection.Maybe the word had a different meaning in those days and meant second burial when the decomposed body was placed in the ossuary.

There are people that believe we originated in a puddle of mud as single cellular organisms and evolved into the most complex organisms we know to date. Statistically probable to about a google to the google power. If people can believe that, I think people can believe in miracles. Personally I think its easier to believe in God then in that.
